Now starting her eighth year
of teaching private lessons in piano/keyboard, flute, guitar and
vocals! Jessica has an accepting and appreciative attitude towards
all who are brave enough to show up and sing or learn a new instrument.
Although educated in music and experienced, she is very down to
earth and modest about her own abilities. Jessica was raised by
musicians and had her first professional performance in Toronto
at the age of 6. She is a singer/songwriter, has produced many independent
recordings of her songs and is a multi-instrumentalist. Jessica
graduated from the jazz program at Mount Royal College majoring
in jazz flute, minoring in piano. She has studied belly dancing,
meditation, Feng Shui, classical guitar and is the mother of two
boys aged 17 and 13.
HOW CAN SHE TEACH AND PLAY SO MANY
INSTRUMENTS?
Music is a language and there are many similarities
between instruments. Often times, a child is raised speaking one
language in the home and another at school. That child becomes bilingual
due to environmental factors. It is the same for different instruments.
Being raised by musicians has meant that Jessica was encouraged
to explore as she grew and has practiced with many different kinds
of instruments. All written music is essentially piano music, which
she translates to which ever instrument is currently being used.
